||Name:||Roero Roche D'Ampsej|
|Region:||Italy / Piemonte|
A special, sentimental wine. This is the last Roche D’Apsej vintage, which the late Matteo Correggia saw released. He passed in the summer 2001 in a freak tractor accident. The wine still delivers potent (albeit ripe) tannins and acidity. Lots of cooked strawberry and cherry, round texture, very long finish. Clear minerality. However, the nose comes in more mature than the flavor. Aeration in the glass only, but I suspect in this case longer exposure to air wouldn’t change things dramatically.
