2007 Baricci Brunello di Montalcino

September 16, 2014

Name:Brunello di Montalcino
Vintage:2007
Type:Red Wine
Varietal:Sangiovese
Producer:Baricci
Region:Italy / Toscana / Montalcino
Alcohol:n/a

Anti-pop Brunello from the Montosoli hill cru by Nello Baricci (one of the 26 original founders of the Association of Brunello di Montalcino in 1967). The entire vintage aged for 36 months in a single botte and yielding a mere 12, bottles of their Brunello (no Riserva). Elegantly distant cherry pit, creamy violets. Taste starts light as a song, but builds up the body along the tongue. Proper tannins/acidity without overripe fruit. Still very young obviously.
