2004 Firriato Harmonium Nero d’Avola

Heavy, tangy, dusty dark fruit. Clearly high in alcohol. Porcini already make a presence. Hmm…it’s not a bad wine at all, but typicity doesn’t jump out, although potentially decipherable. I can’t really categorize this wine. Initial reaction is to skip it and go to Gulfi for a more interesting and nuanced Nero d’Avola. However, considering the commercial focus of the Firiato, it gives the average Sicily-lover exactly the aged version of the wine they know. And so it sits there…
