TASTING NOTES

2005

Ample fruit, tightly woven and a smidge nervous. Showed the least change in the glass throughout the evening, neither falling off, nor spreading its wings. Clearly needs more time to deliver its full potential.

2003

This one was a clear outlier in the pack (of 7 vintages) oscillating from dusty, peppery and slightly green nose to dry hay, sawmill and varnish undertones simmering under the reasonable fruit. Restrained and austere. Perhaps just going through a phase.

2002

Clean, elegant, extremely silky. Very classy and well balanced. One of the favorites in the tasting.

2000

Very similar to 2001, but more vibrant, bright and softer tannic side.

1999

Jar of black berries' jam on the early nose, marmalade. Closes off somewhat after a while in the glass. It aged beautifully, gracefully even, and delivers nicely organoleptically across the board. It's the '98's quieter brother.

1998

The best one of the tasting for me, although in a close call with the 2002. Very intriguing balance of maturity, wisdom and youthfulness. Hardly shy on the nose, albeit stopping well before being annoyingly perfumed. Excellent balance and very much ready to drink.

2001

Tasted less ready than '02, but very good form. Tannins are yet to settle, however, do a fine job playing in tune with the rest of the composition. Very good, but needs time.
